Are you an attorney?
No. Sammijo Johnson is an Arizona Licensed Legal Paraprofessional and a Certified Legal Document Preparer, both credentialed by the Arizona Supreme Court. Within the licensed practice areas, an LP gives legal advice, drafts and files documents, negotiates, and appears in court. An LP may not use the titles attorney or lawyer, and when a matter needs an attorney, the firm says so and refers you.
No. Sammijo Johnson is an Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer, and her Licensed Legal Paraprofessional application is before the Arizona Supreme Court's Board of Nonlawyer Legal Service Providers. Once licensed, an LP gives legal advice, drafts and files documents, negotiates, and appears in court within the licensed practice areas. An LP may not use the titles attorney or lawyer, and when a matter needs an attorney, the firm will say so and refer you.
What is a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional?
An Arizona Licensed Legal Paraprofessional is a legal professional licensed by the Arizona Supreme Court under Arizona Code of Judicial Administration § 7-210 to provide legal services in defined practice areas: family law, civil matters before the justice and municipal courts, certain criminal misdemeanors, administrative matters, juvenile dependency, and, since October 2025, probate law. Within their licensed areas, LPs give legal advice, draft and sign documents, negotiate, and represent clients in court. The full explanation is here.
What is a Certified Legal Document Preparer?
An Arizona Certified Legal Document Preparer is certified by the Arizona Supreme Court under § 7-208 to prepare legal documents at a client's direction, without providing legal advice or representation. Sammijo Johnson holds that credential, and under it our sister company, Entitled Document Services, provides flat-fee document preparation for matters outside LP practice areas: estate and probate documents, immigration filings nationwide, Superior Court civil documents, and name changes and records matters, in English and Spanish.
What does an initial consultation cost?
Initial strategy consultations are 60 minutes and priced at $275. A shorter 30-minute standalone legal advice session is available at $125 for clients with a focused question who do not need a full strategy session. Both fees are credited toward your retainer or flat-fee package if you engage Entitled Family & Civil Law within 30 days. Both are booked on the Book page, and full details are on the fees page.
Why are consultations paid?
Consultations are substantive working sessions. You receive a candid assessment of your matter, an outline of the most effective path forward, and direct answers to your questions. That is professional legal work, and we price it accordingly. The paid model also keeps your time with us focused and uninterrupted.
How does document preparation work?
The split is designed around one question: can legal advice be included? For family law and justice court documents the answer is yes, so the firm drafts those at flat fees with advice included, as a limited scope legal service under Sammijo's LP credential. See the flat-fee drafting tier on the fees page.
For matters outside LP practice areas, meaning estate and probate documents, immigration filings, Superior Court civil documents, name changes and records, and post-judgment paperwork, documents are prepared by Entitled Document Services at your direction under Sammijo's Certified Legal Document Preparer credential, with published flat fees and the written agreement and disclosures required under § 7-208.
How are fees structured?
Mediation, negotiation, and document drafting are offered as flat-fee packages so you have cost certainty. Complex or contested matters are handled hourly at $250, billed in 15-minute increments, with an initial retainer held in trust. Many complex matters use a mix of the two: flat fees for the phases that can be defined in advance and hourly billing only for the contested pieces. Every fee arrangement is documented in a written engagement letter before any work begins, and the full schedule is on the fees page.
Do you handle matters outside of Phoenix?
Yes. Entitled Family & Civil Law serves clients throughout Arizona. Many matters are handled remotely through virtual consultations, electronic document exchange, and remote court appearances where permitted. For matters requiring in-person presence, the firm appears in courts statewide.
Do you offer services in Spanish?
The website, email and written correspondence are available in Spanish. Consultations and court proceedings are conducted in English.
Can you help if I already have an attorney?
Generally, you should not be represented by two firms on the same matter at the same time. If you are considering changing representation, we can talk through that decision in a consultation. If you need limited scope help on a discrete issue, that is something we can discuss as well.
What should I bring to a consultation?
Whatever documents are relevant to your matter. For family law, that may include court filings, existing orders, financial records, or correspondence. For civil disputes, contracts, demand letters, or notices. If you are not sure what is relevant, bring what you have and we will sort it out.
Is my conversation with you confidential?
Yes. Communications made in the course of seeking legal services are protected, and the firm applies the same confidentiality rules that bind attorneys. Please leave sensitive details out of your first message, since the firm runs a conflict check before anything else.
How do I book a consultation?
On the Book page. Choose the session, pick a time, and enter your details. Consultations are not scheduled by phone or email, so the calendar is the only way in. It shows real availability, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, Phoenix time, up to 60 days ahead.
What happens after I book?
You receive an email confirmation at once. The firm runs a conflict check on the names you provided, then sends the invoice; your time is held once it is paid. The Google Meet link is in your calendar invitation. If a conflict turns up, you hear so promptly and the booking is cancelled without charge.
Do you take phone calls?
Not to start a matter. New matters begin with a booking on the calendar, and consultations are held by Google Meet. Current clients book a 15-minute follow-up call from the client tools page, and the firm calls them.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, Phoenix time. Written replies arrive within one business day, and messages sent over the weekend are answered the next business day.
Can I pay in installments?
Flat-fee packages can be paid in full or in the structured installments set out in the engagement letter. Hourly matters begin with a retainer held in trust. Cards, ACH bank transfer, and certified funds are accepted, and payment links arrive with your engagement letter.
What is a limited scope agreement?
A written agreement that defines exactly what the firm will do and what it will not: a set of documents, a negotiation, a single hearing. It keeps the fee flat and the expectations clear. When the firm appears for part of a case, the court receives the limited scope notice the Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure require, and a withdrawal when that part is done.
What if my matter grows beyond the scope?
The engagement letter says how. A limited scope engagement can be expanded by a written amendment, and drafting fees credit toward a negotiation or representation package if you upgrade within 30 days. Nothing outside the scope is done without your written say-so.
Will my documents show who prepared them?
Yes. Every document the firm prepares carries Sammijo Johnson's name, the title Arizona Legal Paraprofessional, and her license number, as ACJA § 7-210 requires. The flat-fee drafting tier is signed work, not ghostwriting, and the advice that comes with it is part of the service.
What is the difference between the mediation and negotiation packages?
In a mediation package the firm serves both spouses as a neutral, represents neither, and prepares the documents they agree on. In a negotiation package the firm represents you alone and settles the disputed terms with the other party or their counsel. Both are flat fees; mediation is commonly split between the parties.
Can you handle adoption or a QDRO?
Adoption, yes. It sits inside the family law endorsement with its own additional qualification, which the firm holds, so the firm assists with all aspects of the adoption process. Retirement-division orders, the division of formal business entities or commercial property, and appeals carry a separate additional qualification that the Arizona Supreme Court has not yet issued to the firm; it will offer them once that qualification issues and refers those pieces to an attorney until then.
How do I get started?
Book on the calendar. Choose a strategy consultation or an advice session on the Book page. Confirmation arrives by email at once, and the invoice follows after the conflict check. Not sure your matter fits? The scope checker on the home page takes three taps.
The firm opens to clients upon licensure and is not accepting matters yet. If you need documents prepared today, Entitled Document Services is open.
